I don't really know where to start, so I guess the beginning is probably best. My name is Miranda J, and I am on a quest to explore all the fun, funky, totally outrageous, and preferably inexpensive spots in America. I'm a twenty-something born and raised on the east coast who has spent the last few years road tripping all across the country. I've been a lot of places and seen a lot of things, but never really strayed too far off the beaten path. Staying in "safe" hotels and motels was generally on the top of my to-do list, so i would search for familiar roadside signs like Days Inn or Super8 when preparing to call it a night. It's not that I didn't want to stay someplace a little less generic and a lot more awesome, but after one really scary experience in Cuba, MO, I was a little hesitant about staying anyplace that I didn't research first.

My goal for this blog is to create the ultimate travel resource for people like myself; the free-spirited, fun-loving, artsy-fartsy, slightly neurotic and totally spontaneous traveler/explorer/treasure hunter.

I will start by compiling a list of places that seem to meet my standards. I will do this through the obvious internet web search, but also by taking recommendations from anyone and everyone. That's why you, the lovely reader, are so important! I want to hear about all the amazingly abstract places you have visited, or want to visit, so I can put them on my ever-growing to do list! I will keep my list updated with new locations, including the best places to stay, eat and visit. And one by one I will do my best (funds permitting) to visit these spots and give an honest review, pics included, so others like me have a reliable resource to turn to when planning their next adventure!

I've been really craving a weekend getaway lately, so my next entry will be focused on finding semi-local destinations; I'm thinking The Catskills... Wish me luck!
